  1. Not so - rarely do I have the time to read what everyone says except a few people I actually want to (top bloggers/friends/family)...that conversation most likely does not happen on the blog itself. FriendFeed is doing a great job of solving this issue for me. - parterburn   - 04/12/2008
  2. If Shyftr wasn't delivering a solution to what people were looking for, building a community and offering a repository for shared comments to RSS feeds, it would fade on its own. But it does offer an interesting service that has a niche. Maybe that niche can grow over time so it is on par with the bigger guys. - louisgray   - 04/12/2008
  3. I love Shyftr more and more everyday. I'm reading content I would otherwise never get around to looking at because of the streamlined nature. I was not a blog/news reader before this site because I have such fragmented and specific interests.

So do you want me read what you have to say or not, bloggers?

  2. I'm surprised Google caved over such nonsense. - Dave   - 04/09/2008
  3. The situation is horrid. 37 Signals had no business even insinuating that their "product" was copied, mimicked, or even CONSIDERED during the development of HuddleChat...

37 Signals' 'Campfire' product sports no design innovation whatsoever... it is nothing more than a web based IRC client that costs money to use. They did not "invent" group chat, I was participating in group chat (private and otherwise) in IRC a decade before Campfire was even built. lol. 37 Signals should be ashamed of themselves... no such thing as bad press my ass.

  1. i am still thinking about this and as of yet i am undecided on how i see all this playing out. for interesting 'other-side take on this' see the following: http://andrewkeen.typepad.com/the_great_seduction/2006/10/my_book_now_not.html - MageThufer   - 04/09/2008
  2. I hate when Mike does this to us! Here's a little tiny taste... but I can't tell you any more... you gotta wait. lol... those of us following him on Twitter are all too familiar with these teases. All the same... the app sounds incredibly promising. For those interested in finding some like minds near them check out http://www.twitterlocal.net/ ... twitter is somewhat mobile... so it's a start. - Matt   - 04/09/2008
  3. bump i still want to come back to this as i have time. the possibilities for good are great; the possibilities for bad tend to keep me awake in the night. i will drop this if you guys don't care but it frightens me some when i think of my grandchildren and there 'daily world' becoming something regrettable. is this really the reality i want them to have -or- do i wish for them to be functioning human beings with their own feelings, thoughts, behaviors and personalities?
sorry, i will shut up and let this drop; however, i will continue to prey for this planet and its inhabitants. it and they need them. and yes, i know it's not the point of the article, however, i think we all can extrapolate.

  1. @magethufer it is a risky maneuver... going out on that limb, what with me not conducting any experiments or actual measurements myself. But I will use the science of rational/logical deduction:

Earth = Bigger than Oprah (she's on earth, so theres the yardstick for that one) and Sol (that's our sun) = Bigger than Earth and VY Canis Majoris = Bigger than Sol

So by this, I can conclude that VY Canis Majoris = Bigger than Oprah... it's all just pure deduction. This once, I feel pretty safe on my limb. (From the sounds of certain questions extended in this thread, I'm thinking a certain someone might not have done so hot on the "Deduction" section of their SATs... )
    - Matt   - 04/07/2008
  2. hehehee eloquently stated; as i live in an M theory universe (damn it,makes my head hurt) i coincide that the limb in question is in fact a safe place for you to be. however, i must remind one to take precaution for unwarranted winds and invariant mistral projectiles. - MageThufer   - 04/07/2008
  3. yeah... what you said. - Matt   - 04/07/2008

  2. I can't see this succeeding, their target market is too small. - ekpyrotic   - 04/05/2008
  3. awesome, brian! BandFind ftw!!

i might disagree about the target market being too small. There are at least 7 cities who's local music scene alone is enough to carry a service like this very far, that's not including players with national exposure already... if their tools facilitate the type of networking that people in the music business benefit from then they can do well. So while it might not be the next myspace, I'm fairly confident the founders are cool with that...
